Introducing the Hawaiian Paradise Burger: A tropical twist on a classic, these juicy turkey burgers are bursting with sweet and savory flavors. Topped with grilled pineapple and your favorite cheese, it's a taste of paradise on a bun.
What You Will Need
Ingredients
For the Burgers:
- 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup finely sliced green onions
- 1/2 cup finely chopped sweet red pepper
- 1/4 cup your favorite teriyaki sauce
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice from fresh pineapple or can
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 3/4 tsp dry ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1.25 pound lean ground turkey
For Serving:
- for fresh pineapple slices or 1 can (8 ounces) sliced pineapple rings
- Hamburger buns
- Leaf lettuce
- Cheddar or jack cheese slices (optional)
The Process
1. Prep the Burger Mix: In a large bowl, combine bread crumbs, green onions, red pepper, teriyaki sauce, pineapple juice, soy sauce, ginger, and salt. Crumble ground turkey over the mixture and mix well.
2. Form and Cook the Burgers: Divide the mixture into 5 equal portions. Shape each portion into a 1/2-inch thick patty. Cook the patties over medium heat for 4 minutes per side, or until cooked through. Resist the urge to press down on the patties; they will puff up naturally. Brush with additional teriyaki sauce.
3. Grill the Pineapple: Grill pineapple slices for 2 minutes per side, basting occasionally with teriyaki sauce.
4. Assemble the Burger: Warm hamburger buns on the grill. Top each bun with a cooked burger, a slice of grilled pineapple, and your desired cheese (if using). Add lettuce and enjoy!
Tip: For a gourmet touch, consider adding a dollop of pineapple salsa.
