These Ground Turkey Sloppy Joes are a delicious and healthier alternative to traditional beef Sloppy Joes. Packed with flavor and easy to make, they're a perfect weeknight meal for the whole family.

What You Will Need

Ingredients

  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 lb ground turkey

For the Sauce:

  • 2 cups water
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tbs white vinegar
  • 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbs sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 small carrot, finely grated

The Process

Cook the Turkey:

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey and onion until the meat is browned and the onion is softened. Drain off any excess grease.

Make the Sauce:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the water, tomato paste, ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, pickle relish, chili powder, cinnamon, and grated carrot.

Combine and Simmer:

  • Pour the sauce over the cooked turkey and onion in the skillet. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.

Serve:

Serve the Sloppy Joes on toasted buns
