These Ground Turkey Sloppy Joes are a delicious and healthier alternative to traditional beef Sloppy Joes. Packed with flavor and easy to make, they're a perfect weeknight meal for the whole family.
What You Will Need
Ingredients
- ½ tsp sea salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 lb ground turkey
For the Sauce:
- 2 cups water
- 6 oz tomato paste
- ½ cup ketchup
- 1 tbs white vinegar
- 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbs sweet pickle relish
- 2 tsp chili powder
- ¼ tsp cinnamon
- 1 small carrot, finely grated
The Process
Cook the Turkey:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey and onion until the meat is browned and the onion is softened. Drain off any excess grease.
Make the Sauce:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the water, tomato paste, ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, pickle relish, chili powder, cinnamon, and grated carrot.
Combine and Simmer:
- Pour the sauce over the cooked turkey and onion in the skillet. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
Serve:
Serve the Sloppy Joes on toasted buns
