This light and flavorful turkey meatloaf is a healthier alternative to traditional beef meatloaf. It is packed with protein and low in fat. The combination of herbs, spices, and a simple ketchup glaze adds a burst of flavor to every bite.

What You Will Need

Ingredients

  • ¼ teaspoon oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon rosemary
  • ½ teaspoon basil
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon hot horseradish
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 beaten egg
  • (Optional) ½ cup grated carrot and finely chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 pound ground turkey (93/7)
  • 1 cup bread crumbs (or 1 cup rolled oats blended for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon water

The Process

1. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the oregano, rosemary, basil, black pepper, sea salt, onion flakes, mustard, horseradish, milk, egg, and optional vegetables.

2. Add Turkey and Bread Crumbs: Add the ground turkey to the bowl and mix well. Gradually add the bread crumbs (or blended oats) and mix until combined.

3. Shape the Loaf: Shape the meatloaf mixture into a loaf, using a bowl or small loaf pan as a mold if desired.v

4. Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, combine the ketchup and water.

5. Bake the Meatloaf: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush the top of the meatloaf with the ketchup glaze. Place the meatloaf in a shallow baking dish and bake for 50 minutes, or until an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) is reached. For a more caramelized glaze, you can bake it to an internal temperature of 175°F (79°C).

Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy with your favorite side dishes, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a green salad.
