This Sicilian-inspired turkey meatloaf is a flavorful and healthy variation on a classic dish. Packed with Mediterranean flavors like fennel, red pepper flakes, and rich marinara sauce, this meatloaf is sure to impress.

What You Will Need

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon onion flakes
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon basil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon fennel or anise, ground
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon vegan fish sauce or 2 anchovies, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ cups chopped mushrooms
  • 1 pound ground turkey (93/7)
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • Marinara sauce

The Process

1. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the onion flakes, garlic powder, basil, salt, pepper, fennel or anise, red pepper flakes, milk, vegan fish sauce or anchovies, egg, mushrooms, ground turkey, and bread crumbs. Mix well until thoroughly combined.

2. Shape the Loaf: Form the meatloaf mixture into a loaf shape.

3. Prepare for Baking: Place the meatloaf on a lined baking sheet.

4. Top with Marinara: Generously top the meatloaf with your favorite marinara sauce.

5. Bake: Bake in a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven for 45-50 minutes, or until an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) is reached.
