What You Will Need
Ingredients
Marinade:
- ¼ cup acidic juice (lime, lemon, orange, or apple cider vinegar - A blend of two or more is actually best.)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano (or 1 tablespoon fresh, chopped)
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder (or 1 clove, finely chopped or crushed)
Main Dish:
- 1 pound ground turkey (93/7 lean)
- Small corn or flour tortillas
The Process
1. Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl, combine the acidic juice, olive oil, cumin, oregano, chili powder, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Whisk until well combined.
2. Marinate the Turkey: Place the ground turkey in a bowl and pour the marinade over it. Use your hands to mix the marinade into the turkey, ensuring it is evenly coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
3. Cook the Turkey: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through.
4. Assemble the Tacos: Warm the tortillas according to package instructions. Fill each tortilla with the cooked turkey. Top with your favorite toppings, such as avocado, salsa, cilantro, lime wedges, and onions.
