For the Turkey Patties:
- 1 lb ground turkey (93/7)
- ½ tsp sea salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- 1 tsp dried onion flakes
- 1 tsp vegetable Better Than Bouillon
- 1 ½ tsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1/3 cup bread crumbs
For the Sauce and Vegetables:
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup finely sliced carrots or other vegetables (like peas)
- ½ lb sliced mushrooms
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire
- 2 tsp Better Than Bouillon
- 1 tbsp water
- 2 cups water
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
The Process
Prepare the Turkey Patties:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, salt, pepper, onion flakes, Better Than Bouillon, Dijon mustard, ketchup, water, Worcestershire, and oil. Mix well.
- Add the bread crumbs and mix again until fully incorporated.
- Form the mixture into ½ cup patties.
- Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the patties for 4 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
Prepare the Vegetables and Sauce:
- In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp of olive oil.
- Sauté the carrots or other vegetables until tender.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they release their liquid and are browned.
- Remove the vegetables and mushrooms from the skillet.
- In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp of oil, ketchup, Worcestershire, Better Than Bouillon, and water. Heat until bubbling.
- Add 2 cups of water to the skillet and bring to a boil.
- Add the cooked turkey patties, sautéed vegetables, and mushrooms to the sauce.
- In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tsp of cornstarch and 2 tbsp of water.
- Slowly pour the cornstarch slurry into the sauce, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- Simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the flavors have blended.
Serve:
Serve the Faux Salisbury Steak over mashed potatoes or your favorite side dish.
