What You Will Need

Ingredients

For the Turkey Patties:

  • 1 lb ground turkey (93/7)
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp dried onion flakes
  • 1 tsp vegetable Better Than Bouillon
  • 1 ½ tsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs

For the Sauce and Vegetables:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup finely sliced carrots or other vegetables (like peas)
  • ½ lb sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire
  • 2 tsp Better Than Bouillon
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

The Process

Prepare the Turkey Patties:

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, salt, pepper, onion flakes, Better Than Bouillon, Dijon mustard, ketchup, water, Worcestershire, and oil. Mix well.
  • Add the bread crumbs and mix again until fully incorporated.
  • Form the mixture into ½ cup patties.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook the patties for 4 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through.
  • Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

Prepare the Vegetables and Sauce:

  • In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp of olive oil.
  • Sauté the carrots or other vegetables until tender.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they release their liquid and are browned.
  • Remove the vegetables and mushrooms from the skillet.
  • In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp of oil, ketchup, Worcestershire, Better Than Bouillon, and water. Heat until bubbling.
  • Add 2 cups of water to the skillet and bring to a boil.
  • Add the cooked turkey patties, sautéed vegetables, and mushrooms to the sauce.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tsp of cornstarch and 2 tbsp of water.
  • Slowly pour the cornstarch slurry into the sauce, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the flavors have blended.

Serve:

Serve the Faux Salisbury Steak over mashed potatoes or your favorite side dish.
