- 1 lb ground turkey (93/7 Lean, not non-fat)
- 3/4 cup bread crumbs (or substitute like quick-cooking oats)
- 2 tbs butter
- 1 tsp vegetable Better Than Bouillon
- 2 tbs flour
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 2 cups milk
- Mashed potatoes (for serving)
The Process
1. Prepare the Meatballs:
- In a large bowl, combine the beaten egg, onion, milk, salt, nutmeg, and pepper.
- Gradually add the ground turkey, mixing thoroughly.
- Incorporate the bread crumbs, mixing until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 1-tablespoon-sized meatballs.
2. Cook the Meatballs:
- Heat a large, cold, oiled pan over medium heat.
- Add the meatballs and cook for 4 minutes per side, or until browned.
- Remove the meatballs from the pan and keep warm.
3. Make the Gravy:
- In the same pan, melt the butter.
- Whisk in the Better Than Bouillon, flour, and pepper.
- Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly until the sauce thickens and bubbles.
- Scrape the pan to incorporate any browned bits.
4. Serve:
- Place the meatballs on a bed of mashed potatoes.
- Spoon the gravy over the meatballs and potatoes.
- Serve immediately.
