  • 1 lb ground turkey (93/7 Lean, not non-fat)
  • 3/4 cup bread crumbs (or substitute like quick-cooking oats)
  • 2 tbs butter
  • 1 tsp vegetable Better Than Bouillon
  • 2 tbs flour
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 cups milk
  • Mashed potatoes (for serving)

The Process

1. Prepare the Meatballs:

  • In a large bowl, combine the beaten egg, onion, milk, salt, nutmeg, and pepper.
  • Gradually add the ground turkey, mixing thoroughly.
  • Incorporate the bread crumbs, mixing until just combined.
  • Form the mixture into 1-tablespoon-sized meatballs.

2. Cook the Meatballs:

  • Heat a large, cold, oiled pan over medium heat.
  • Add the meatballs and cook for 4 minutes per side, or until browned.
  • Remove the meatballs from the pan and keep warm.

3. Make the Gravy:

  • In the same pan, melt the butter.
  • Whisk in the Better Than Bouillon, flour, and pepper.
  • Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly until the sauce thickens and bubbles.
  • Scrape the pan to incorporate any browned bits.

4. Serve:

  • Place the meatballs on a bed of mashed potatoes.
  • Spoon the gravy over the meatballs and potatoes.
  • Serve immediately.
