Italian Sausage (Mild)

Serve these Italian sausages on their own as a main course. Or use as a topping for pizza, pasta, or sandwiches. You can also add them to soups and stews for extra flavor.

What You Will Need

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey (93/7 lean)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs

The Process

  • Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, salt, pepper, basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, and breadcrumbs.
  • Mix Thoroughly: Use your hands to mix the ingredients together until well combined.
  • Form Patties: Shape the mixture into four large, flat patties, similar to hamburger patties.
  • Cook the Patties:
    • Stovetop: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties to the hot skillet and cook for about 4 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
    • Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the patties for about 4 minutes per side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
  • Cut into Pieces or Not: Once cooked, remove the patties from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes. Then, cut each patty into smaller pieces. Or, leave them as large burger-sized patties and make sandwiches!
